Composite Bonding and White Fillings

Beautiful, natural-looking fillings that compliment your smile.

Whether it's repairing a worn edge or rebuilding a tooth's shape, white fillings are the material of choice to sculpt the smile and restore function in your bite.

  • About White Dental Fillings Treatments

Fillings are used to repair any cavities, chips, cracks or gaps within your teeth, preventing infection. There are different options for dental fillings, including amalgam fillings made up of a metal mixture and silver in colour, or composite fillings that look like your natural teeth. Both options top cavities from getting worse, prevent infection and protect your natural teeth.

  • About White Fillings

In the past fillings were always made out of either gold or silver-coloured amalgam. Both of these materials work very well, and in some circumstances they are still the best choice available. But they both have one disadvantage – they don’t have the appearance of natural teeth. White fillings can offer confidence as they are aesthetically pleasing and look like natural teeth, blending in seamlessly. White composite fillings are made of a mixture of resin and powdered glass that repair any existing cavities or imperfections in the teeth, protecting you from infection or sensitivity. Composite fillings are applied in layers and cured with blue light, before being filed and polished to match the shape of the tooth.

The bonding procedure helps to strengthen and protect the tooth. It can be used to repair cavities, as well as fixing cracked, broken or chipped teeth. At Bite Dentistry our first choice would always be composite fillings, which allows us to create beautiful, natural-looking fillings that won’t spoil your smile or knock your confidence.

  • Why choose White Fillings?

White Fillings are barely noticeable, blending in with your natural teeth, allowing you to get your confidence back.

Amalgam fillings contain Mercury which is a toxin, which white composite fillings do not contain. Whilst the level of mercury in amalgam fillings is unlikely to be immediately harmful, the mercury may bleed out over the years.

Composite fillings do not conduct heat, unlike amalgam fillings, lessening sensitivity and damage caused by fluctuating temperatures and sizes.
Fillings are a quick and painless treatment, and can usually be done on the same day as your original appointment.

If a cavity is left it will continue to decay and may result in the need for tooth removal and replacement with a denture, crown or dental implant. Fillings are a much cheaper option.
